HUBUNGAN ANTARA KECERDASAN EMOSIONAL DENGAN TINGKAT DEPRESI PADA REMAJA

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada hubungan antara kecerdasan emosional dengan tingkat depresi pada remaja. Subyek dalam penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas satu, kelas dua dan kelas tiga SMU N 4 Purwokerto. Teknik pengambilan penelitian ini adalah random klaster (cluster random) yaitu dengan cara mengundi masing-masing kelas satu, kelas dua dan kelas tiga. Untuk mengukur tingkat kecerdasan emosional peserta didik digunakan skala kecerdasan emosional yang disusun oleh Azis yang telah diadaptasikan oleh Wahidin (2001). Untuk mengukur tingkat depresi digunakan skala depresi yaitu Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) yang disusun oleh Aaron T. Beck (dalam Hasanat,1996). Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah Analisis Regresi Satu Prediktor. Dari analisis tersebut diperoleh kesimpulan sebagai berikut : ‘Ada hubungan antara kecerdasan emosional dengan tingkat depresi pada remaja’. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan skor r = -0,414, F = 21,972 dan p = 0,001. Kata Kunci : kecerdasan emosional, depresi, remaja
