ABSTRACT
The development of the perfume industry, cosmetic ingredients, food, medicines, aroma therapy, and pharmaceutical fields are increasingly increasing, resulting in an increase in the need for essential oils. Citronella essential oils processed, and processed into essential oil, it will get high selling value, then conducted identification research of GC-MS essential oil extract of 100 g perfumed coconut with extraction process using 1000 ml solvent methanol for 6 hours and evaporation done for 120 minutes . From experiments that have been done can be seen that the extraction of essential oils using methanol solvents get that is 6.608%. The rendement analysis was done by comparing the weight of citronous essential oil produced and the weight of the material used (citronella). The average yield yield is 6,608 grams. While the specific gravity obtained from the calculation of 0.884136 grams / cm3, so to obtain 1 liter of oil (884.136 grams of oil) required lemongrass as much as 13,379.78 grams (13,379 kg). Result of GC-MS 3 main component of essential oil on citronella, citronellal content of 36,11% at retention time 18,803 minute. Geraniol content was 20,07% at 22,072 minute retention time and sitronelol level was 10.82% at retention time 21,286 minutes.
