Editorial Policies

Focus and Scope

The focus of JPPM (Jurnal Pengabdian dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat) is to publish articles on community service and empowerment results. The scope of articles published in JPPM covers the following areas: Human development and national competitiveness; Poverty alleviation based on local resources; Management of rural and coastal areas with local wisdom; Economic development, entrepreneurship, cooperatives, creative industries, and MSMEs; Development of environmentally sound technology; Health, nutrition, tropical diseases, herbal medicines, art, literature, and culture, as well as national integration and social harmony.

Fokus JPPM (Jurnal Pengabdian dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat) adalah mempublikasikan artikel hasil pengabdian dan pemberdayaan masyarakat. Cakupan artikel yang diterbitkan di JPPM meliputi bidang: Pembangunan manusia dan daya saing bangsa; Pengentasan kemiskinan berbasis sumber daya lokal; Pengelolaan wilayah pedesaan dan pesisir berkearifan lokal; Pengembangan ekonomi, kewirausahaan, koperasi, industri kreatif, dan UMKM; Pengembangan teknologi berwawasan lingkungan; Kesehatan, gizi, penyakit tropis, dan obat-obatan herbal, seni, sastra, dan budaya, serta integrasi nasional dan harmoni sosial.

Peer Review Process

JPPM publishes about 10-15% of submitted papers each year. The publication process from submission to publication may take a maximum of four months depending on how complaint authors are to policies, the editorial team and reviewers.

Manuscripts are selected based on the strength of the paper compared with other papers under review. We send the reviewers' comments to authors whether or not we accept the article. On occasion, we reject an article but invite a resubmission that addresses specific concerns of the editors. The procedures for manuscript review include:

1. With one week of receipt of a manuscript, one of the Editorial Board (EB) members will review it in reference to 

  • conformity with the Journal's "Author Guidelines",
  • relevance of the article to the readers of the JPPM Journal,
  • clarity of presentation, and
  •  its scientific and ethical acceptability. (declaration of conflict of interest can be found here)

The EB has three options: accept manuscripts for external review, return it to author for revision, or reject it. A manuscript not accepted by a board member is blindly by another board member. If not accepted by both, the manuscript is rejected by the EB. Decision will be made by the suggestion of a third EB member if the decisions of first two do not concur.

2. Once accepted for external review, the EB sent the manuscript to exsternal reviewers with appropriate expertise. The peer review process of JPPM Journal follows as it stands now follows a Double blind review where both authors and reviewers identities are kept anonymous. Peer review comments should be objective and constructive without being hostile/too negative to the author(s) (COPE guideline). Reviewers will be asked to review and return manuscripts within 2 weeks of their receipt. Reviewers have few options; accept, accept with major revision, accept with minor revision, or reject.

3. Manuscripts accepted with revision will be returned to the first author. Author(s) will be given four weeks to respond to external reviewers’ comments, make necessary changes, and return their manuscript to the EB.

4. Manuscripts with minor revisions will be cleared by the EB and accepted for publication. Those with major revisions will be returned to external reviewers and follow the procedures as outlined for the initial review.

5. When the manuscript is accepted, we notify authors when they can expect to receive galley proofs. Authors are expected to examine proofs within 48 hours of receiving them.

6. All accepted manuscripts are subject to copy editing to improve clarity and achieve consistency of style and formatting of journal content. Authors will have the opportunity to approve revisions made during the copy editing process.

7. The EB welcomes comments from Journal readers on the above procedures.

JPPM menerbitkan sekitar 10-15% dari makalah yang masuk setiap tahun. Proses dari pengajuan hingga publikasi dapat memakan waktu maksimal enam bulan tergantung bagaimana perlakuan penulis terhadap kebijakan, tim redaksi, dan peninjau.

Naskah dipilih berdasarkan kekuatan makalah dibandingkan dengan makalah lain yang ditinjau. Kami mengirimkan komentar peninjau kepada penulis terlepas dari apakah kami menerima artikel tersebut atau tidak. Terkadang, kami menolak artikel tetapi meminta pengiriman ulang untuk menangani masalah khusus editor. Prosedur review naskah meliputi:

1. Dalam rentang satu minggu setelah penerimaan manuskrip, salah satu anggota Dewan Redaksi (DR) akan meninjau artikel dengan mengacu pada:

  • kesesuaian dengan "Panduan Penulis" Jurnal,
  • relevansi artikel dengan pembaca Jurnal JPPM,
  • kejelasan penyajian, dan

DR memiliki tiga pilihan: menerima manuskrip untuk tinjauan eksternal, mengembalikannya ke penulis untuk direvisi, atau menolaknya. Naskah yang tidak diterima oleh seorang anggota dewan dipercayakan kepada anggota dewan lainnya untuk dilakukan blind review. Jika tidak diterima oleh keduanya, naskah ditolak oleh DR. Keputusan akan dibuat atas saran dari anggota DR ketiga jika keputusan dari dua yang pertama tidak disetujui.

2. Setelah diterima untuk review eksternal, DR mengirimkan naskah ke reviewer eksternal dengan keahlian yang sesuai. Proses peer review Jurnal JPPM menerapkan double blind review di mana identitas penulis dan reviewer dirahasiakan. Komentar peer review harus objektif dan konstruktif, tidak agresif/terlalu negatif terhadap penulis (COPE guideline). Peninjau akan diminta untuk meninjau dan mengembalikan manuskrip dalam waktu 2 minggu setelah diterima. Peninjau memiliki pilihan; menerima, menerima dengan revisi besar, menerima dengan revisi kecil, atau menolak.

3. Naskah yang diterima dengan revisi akan dikembalikan kepada penulis pertama. Penulis akan diberi waktu empat minggu untuk menanggapi komentar peninjau eksternal, membuat perubahan yang diperlukan, dan mengembalikan manuskrip mereka ke DR.

4. Naskah dengan sedikit revisi akan disetujui oleh DR dan diterima untuk diterbitkan. Mereka yang memiliki revisi besar akan dikembalikan ke peninjau eksternal dan mengikuti prosedur sebagaimana diuraikan untuk tinjauan awal.

5. Ketika manuskrip diterima, kami memberi tahu penulis kapan mereka dapat mengharapkan untuk menerima galley proof. Penulis diharapkan untuk memeriksanya dalam waktu 48 jam setelah menerima.

6. Semua manuskrip yang diterima dapat diedit untuk meningkatkan kejelasan dan mencapai konsistensi gaya dan format konten jurnal. Penulis akan memiliki kesempatan untuk menyetujui revisi yang dilakukan selama proses penyuntingan salinan.

7. DR menerima komentar dari pembaca Jurnal tentang prosedur di atas.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Jurnal ini memberikan konten dengan akses terbuka yang berprinsip untuk membuat penelitian tersedia secara bebas untuk publik, mendukung pertukaran pengetahuan global yang lebih besar.

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration.

JPPM stores back issues and current articles following LOCKSS idea of keeping lots of copies of our items on several servers to keep them safe. Archives are stored in Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto repository server, the university's Local Content Collection and all of them are digitally submitted to Indonesian National Library's Indonesia OneSearch and periodically harvested by OCLC WorldCat. Published issues are also sent to LIPI (Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia) the Indonesian Institute of Sciences to be retained in its repository. JPPM also implementing PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN).

Jurnal ini menggunakan sistem LOCKSS untuk membuat sistem pengarsipan terdistribusi di antara pustaka yang tergabung dan mengizinkan pustaka tersebut untuk membuat arsip permanen jurnal untuk tujuan pelestarian dan pemulihan.

JPPM menyimpan kembali issues dan artikel terkini beriringan dengan tujuan LOCKSS untuk menyimpan banyak salinan item kami di beberapa server agar tetap aman. Arsip disimpan di server repositori Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto, Koleksi Muatan Lokal Universitas dan semuanya diserahkan secara digital ke Indonesia OneSearch Perpustakaan Nasional Indonesia dan dikumpulkan secara berkala oleh OCLC WorldCat. Isu-isu yang diterbitkan juga dikirim ke LIPI (Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia) untuk disimpan di repositorinya. JPPM juga menerapkan PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN).

Scientific Statement

JPPM (Jurnal Pengabdian dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat) is a scientific journal that publishes articles on the results of community service and empowerment, with the following areas: Human development and national competitiveness; Poverty alleviation based on local resources; Management of rural and coastal areas with local wisdom; Economic development, entrepreneurship, cooperatives, creative industries, and MSMEs; Development of environmentally sound technology; Health, nutrition, tropical diseases, herbal medicines, art, literature, and culture, as well as national integration and social harmony.

JPPM implements publication management, and articles published in JPPM must go through a review and editing process. Articles accepted depend on the decision of the editorial board meeting.

Policy of Screening for Plagiarism

All manuscripts must be free from plagiarism contents. All authors are suggested to use plagiarism detection software to do the similarity checking. Editors check the plagiarism detection of articles in this journal by using a iThenticate software.

Semua naskah harus bebas dari konten plagiarisme. Semua penulis disarankan untuk menggunakan perangkat lunak pendeteksi plagiarisme untuk melakukan pengecekan kemiripan. Editor mengecek deteksi plagiarisme artikel di jurnal ini dengan menggunakan software iThenticate.
