Kapasitas Daya Hambat Antibakteri Minyak Atsiri Nilam Aceh (Pogostemon cablin Benth.) terhadap Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)

Minyak nilam Aceh mengandung senyawa yang aktif sebagai antibakteri seperti patchouli alcohol, eugenol, beta-caryophyllene, seychellene, gurjunene, alpha-guaiene, beta-patchoulene, bulnesene, dan gamma-guaiene. Kajian ini akan menguraikan daya hambat minyak nilam Aceh yang telah diredistilasi di Atsiri Research Center (ARC) Universitas Syiah Kuala. Minyak atsiri nilam diambil dari Kabupaten Aceh Jaya dan diuji daya hambatnya terhadap bakteri Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Bahan yang digunakan adalah isolat bakteri MRSA, minyak nilam dengan berbagai konsentrasi. Pembuatan konsentrasi minyak nilam dilakukan dengan mencampurkan minyak nilam dengan larutan etanol. Konsentrasi minyak nilam yang diuji dalam penelitian ini adalah 80, 40, 20, dan 10%. Pengujian antimikroba dilakukan berdasarkan metode difusi cakram Kirby-Bauer, masing-masing tiga ulangan setiap perlakuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi nilam terbaik untuk daya hambat bakteri adalah 80% dengan diameter zona hambat terhadap MRSA sebesar 11,78 mm. Penelitian ini juga membuktikan bahwa semakin tinggi konsentrasi minyak nilam maka semakin besar daya hambat bakterinya.
