EVALUATING THE QUALITY OF PRIMARY EDUCATION IN INDONESIA : CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS

Abstract. Capable and globally competitive human resources depend on the growth of basic education in Indonesia. However, poor education quality, inequality in access and quality of education between regions, lack of competent educators, curriculum that is not in line with the needs of the times, and lack of utilization of technology in the learning process are some of the challenges that still hinder education to achieve the best quality. Using a literature study methodology and a qualitative approach, this research evaluates the condition of basic education in Indonesia and finds strategic solutions. The results show that teachers should be strengthened, the curriculum should be changed, access to education should be more equitable, especially in the 3T areas, and digital technology should be incorporated into the learning system. It is hoped that continuous evaluation and cooperation among stakeholders can help improve the quality of basic education that is more uniform and in line with the changing world.

Abstrakt. Sumber daya manusia yang mampu dan berdaya saing di tingkat global bergantung pada pertumbuhan pendidikan dasar di Indonesia. Namun, kualitas pendidikan yang buruk, ketimpangan akses dan kualitas pendidikan antarwilayah, kurangnya tenaga pendidik yang kompeten, kurikulum yang tidak sesuai dengan kebutuhan zaman, dan kurangnya pemanfaatan teknologi dalam proses pembelajaran adalah beberapa tantangan yang masih menghambat pendidikan untuk mencapai kualitas terbaik. Dengan menggunakan metodologi studi literatur dan pendekatan kualitatif, penelitian ini mengevaluasi kondisi pendidikan dasar di Indonesia dan menemukan solusi strategis. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa guru harus diperkuat, kurikulum harus diubah, akses pendidikan harus lebih adil, terutama di daerah 3T, dan teknologi digital harus dimasukkan ke dalam sistem pembelajaran. Diharapkan bahwa evaluasi dan kerja sama antar pemangku kepentingan yang berkelanjutan dapat membantu meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan dasar yang lebih seragam dan sesuai dengan perubahan dunia.
