Acne is a skin disorder which is caused by the Propionibacterium acnes. One of the substances that can be benefited as an antibacterial agent is black cumin (Nigella sativa L.) oil. The purpose of this study were to determine antibacterial activity of cream containing of black cumin oil to P. acnes by Kirby-bauer method. Black cumin oil was formulated into acne cream type o/w at concentrationof 5, 10, and 20%. Antiacne cream X was used positive control. Creams were prepared using fusion method. Evaluation of antiacne cream consistent of organoleptic (odor, color, shape, and homogeneity), dispersive power, adhesion, viscosity, pH, and antibacterial. Data was analyzed with one way anova and Kruskal-Wallis Test. The results showed that the antiacne cream type M/A meets the requirements of homogeneity, dispersive power (5-7 cm), pH (4.5-6.5) meet the requirements of the acceptable cream, and the only negative control group meets the requirements of viscosity of good cream (4000-40000 cPs). However, the cream does not meet the requirements of good adhesion cream (<4 seconds). Cream of black cumin oil with concentration 20% have the most effective antibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acnes.References
