Abstract
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menggambarkan penguasaan kemampuan matematika siswa pada materi fungsi, dan mendeskripsikan kemampuan penalaran dan komunikasi pada setiap skor dengan menggunakan rubrik penilaian unjuk kerja. Metode deskriptif kuantitatif digunakan dalam penelitian ini dikarenakan terdapat relevansi pada proses awal sampai kesimpulan yang tersusun. Adapun, sampel yang diambil adalah sebanyak 77 mahasiswa tingkat satu pada salah perguruan tinggi swasta tahun akademik 2014/2015. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa: 1) kemampuan matematis mahasiswa secara klasikal telah mencapai ketuntasan yang ditandai dengan nilai rata-rata diatas Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimum (KKM), sebaliknya ketuntasan secara individual hanya mencapai 63%. 2) Kemampuan mengkomunikasikan gagasan ke dalam bentuk digram matematika secara keseluruhan hampir lengkap, jelas, efisien, dan tidak ragu-ragu. Sedangkan, untuk kemampuan menggunakan ide-ide dan prosedur penalaran matematika untuk menarik kesimpulan yang telah dibuktikan, secara keseluruhan sebagian besar adalah benar, walaupun, masih terdapat kesalahan perhitungan yang serius.Kata Kunci : penalaran matematis, komunikasi matematis.
