Krisis ekologi dan krisis pangan telah mendorong lahirnya kesadaran akan pentingya pertanian perkelanjutan. Tulisan ini bermaksud menemukan sebuah konsep pertanian berkelanjutan yang tepat bagi Indonesia, sebuah negara dengan penduduk muslim terbesar di dunia. Â Pemikiran Seyyed Hossein Nasr akan didiskusikan dan dijadikan sebagai titik tolak dari upaya tersebut. Pendekatan tafsir agraria akan dipakai untuk menafsirkan pemikiran Nasr. Lewat pendekatan tafsir agraria, penelitian ini menjadikan pemikiran-pemikiran Nasr bersifat inklusif dan menghindarkannya dari jebakan binarisme. Selain itu visi agrarianisme Nasr semakin diperjelas, yaitu Islamic agrarianisme, sebuah praksis pertanian yang memperhatikan keseimbangan antara pemenuhan kebutuhan manusia akan pangan, pelestarian lingkungan serta berdimensi spiritualitas. Praksis pertanian semacam ini tidak hanya menjadi privilage para petani yang berada diwilayah rural dan bergerak disektor produksi pertanian. Islamic Agrarianisme juga bisa dipraktekkan oleh umat muslim yang hidup di wilayah urban lewat gaya hidup mereka terkait dengan makanan maupun lingkungan hidup yang lebih luas.
