Media online, terutama melalui platform sosial media seperti twitter (X), memiliki peran sentral dalam politik modern. Keterlibatan politik melalui media sosial mengalami peningkatan, di mana partai politik dan politisi memanfaatkannya untuk kampanye dan interaksi dengan pemilih. Twitter (X), dengan batasan 280 karakternya, telah menjadi pusat pembicaraan politik yang memengaruhi pandangan pemilih, terutama pemilih pemula yang lebih terbuka terhadap pengaruh luar. Media sosial juga berperan penting dalam membangun citra publik politisi dan partai politik. Dalam konteks kampanye politik, penggunaan strategis media sosial dapat menarik perhatian media berita dan pemilih. Namun, terdapat perbedaan pendekatan antara media sosial dan media penyiaran, memengaruhi jenis informasi politik yang diperoleh oleh pemilih online. Pemilih pemula, dalam rentang usia 17-21 tahun, menunjukkan potensi yang signifikan, dengan faktor usia, pendidikan politik, dan keterlibatan media sosial memainkan peran kunci dalam membentuk preferensi mereka dalam pemilihan.
