Profil Ekstrak Rimpang Lengkuas ( Alpinia Galanga (L.) Sw.) dari Lokasi Tanam dengan perbedaan Letak Ketinggian Geografis

Abstract


Galangal rhizome (Alpinia galanga (L.) Sw.) is one of the raw materials for medicinal plants that must be of good quality in order to increase its quality, safety and benefits. The geographical location of planting is one of the external factors that can affect the quality of the simplicia, extracts and secondary metabolite content produced. This study aims to determine whether the difference in the height of the planting location affects the quality and profile of secondary metabolites in galangal (Alpinia galanga (L.) Sw.) rhizomes.

Samples were obtained from Jaten, Jumantono and Jenawi sub-districts as locations with geographical elevation differences in the highlands, medium, and lowlands for non-specific and specific parameter tests as well as secondary metabolite profiles which were identified using the High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography (HPTLC) method using eugenol comparators then analyzed using hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA).

The results showed that the different heights of the geographical location of galangal (Alpinia galanga (L.) Sw.) planting showed different profiles on the test results for determining drying shrinkage, water content, water soluble extract content, and ethanol soluble extract content. The secondary metabolite profile of galangal (Alpinia galanga (L.) Sw.) rhizome of galangal (L.) Sw.) HPTLC method of Jenawi samples differed from those of Jaten and Jumantono samples with a similarity value of 61.49% by HCA analysis.
