Plagiarism Policy
Dinamika Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan Dasar (DJIPD) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, originality, and ethical scholarly publishing. The journal has a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism, self-plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, and other forms of research misconduct. To ensure the originality and credibility of published research, all submitted manuscripts undergo plagiarism screening using Turnitin or equivalent similarity-detection software before entering the peer-review process.
Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism refers to the use of another person's ideas, words, data, figures, tables, images, or intellectual contributions without appropriate acknowledgment or citation. Plagiarism may occur intentionally or unintentionally and includes, but is not limited to:
- Direct copying of text without quotation and citation.
- Inadequate paraphrasing of previously published work.
- Self-plagiarism or redundant publication.
- Unauthorized use of research data, images, or illustrations.
- Misappropriation of ideas, concepts, or findings from other researchers.
- Citation manipulation intended to misrepresent scholarly contributions.
DJIPD considers plagiarism a serious violation of publication ethics and academic integrity.
Similarity Screening
All manuscripts submitted to DJIPD are screened using plagiarism detection software prior to editorial review. As a general guideline:
- The overall similarity index should not exceed 20%.
- Similarity originating from references, standard methodological descriptions, institutional names, and legally required statements may be excluded from consideration.
- Editorial evaluation focuses on the nature and context of similarity rather than solely on numerical percentages.
A low similarity score does not automatically guarantee originality, while a high similarity score does not necessarily indicate plagiarism. Each manuscript is assessed individually by the Editorial Board.
Editorial Actions
When potential plagiarism is identified, the Editorial Board will conduct a detailed assessment of the manuscript.
- Minor Similarity Issues: For limited instances of inappropriate citation or textual overlap, authors may be required to revise the manuscript, improve paraphrasing, add appropriate citations, or clarify source attribution. The manuscript may proceed to peer review after satisfactory revision.
- Major Similarity Issues: Manuscripts may be rejected immediately when substantial plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, or unethical reuse of published materials is detected. In severe cases, the journal reserves the right to reject the manuscript without external review, suspend consideration of future submissions, or notify the author’s affiliated institution or funding agency.
Post-Publication Discovery
If plagiarism or research misconduct is identified after publication, DJIPD will follow internationally recognized publication ethics procedures, including those recommended by COPE. Depending on the severity of the case, the journal may issue corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.
Authors’ Responsibilities
Prior to submission, authors are expected to ensure the originality of their manuscript, properly acknowledge all sources used, obtain permission when reproducing copyrighted materials, conduct an independent similarity check whenever possible, and confirm that the manuscript has not been published or submitted elsewhere. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all co-authors comply with these requirements.
Plagiarism Declaration
By submitting a manuscript to Dinamika Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan Dasar (DJIPD), authors declare that:
- The manuscript is an original scholarly work.
- The manuscript has not been previously published and is not under consideration elsewhere.
- All sources have been appropriately cited and acknowledged.
- The manuscript complies with the journal’s publication ethics and plagiarism policy.
- The similarity index does not exceed the journal's acceptable threshold of 20%, unless otherwise justified and approved by the Editorial Board.
Failure to comply with these requirements may result in rejection, retraction, or other corrective actions in accordance with the journal’s publication ethics policies.
